Holds a special place in my heart
This ride is probably more personal to me than any back home in the cotswolds, as my Grandparents are buried in the church graveyard. I'm sat here trying to channel Granda's, skills as an author and editor as well his love of the Lake district where he was lucky to live. I have the misfortune of having been born down south so only get to make fleeting visits and therefore have to make the most of it when I can.
Its only a short ride of 8km but it does have a decent climb and descent OK nothing spectacular but enough to get the blood pumping on a Sunday morning. The climbing starts as soon as you leave the road after the farm and at the top you get views of Loweswater and Crummock water. Having taken a most to take in the view the climbing is rewarded by dropping down to the lake before returning to the car park along the lakeside.
