Steep & Natural Coaching / Guiding

Feb 10, 2019 by Ian Carruthers | This post may contain affiliate links.

    A day of two halves

    Steep & Natural Coaching

The steep and Natural coaching day by Pedleabikeaway a the Forest of Dean trail centre is a day comprising of two parts. The first part of the day, the morning session is a coaching session tailored to the group. This generally comprises of drops, jumps and maintaining flow, but other skills can be covered depending on the group. Using the built sections of trails, each skill is built up in steps, with an explanation of how and why to use the skill.

When the morning session is over it's back to the Cafe for a hearty lunch and a debrief.

Once lunch is over it's time to head out for some riding, putting to use the skills learnt in the morning session. Rather than the groomed trails that of the centre, the route takes you further afield to more natural trails.

Heading out over to Ellwood and Parkend the ride is paced for the group and there is no pressure to ride any features you're not comfortable with. Speaking of features, when they are come across each one is looked at and discussed on how to put into practice the skills from the morning session. There is the opportunity to watch the others on the course tackle the features before having a go.

The day ends back at the cafe for coffee and cake alone with a good chinwag about the days riding.
