Puddletown Woods in Dorset offers Mountain Bikers lots of short natural singletracks, downhill sections, crazy jumps even a sort of 4X track. Constantly changing as woods are harvested and new trails pop up. Like a giant play area. Signposted from main road between Dorchester and Poole. Park near Hardy’s Cottage (& cafe for drinks). Head up track past cottages into woods. Can be hard to find trails, ask anyone you meet, look for tell tale cycle tracks into woods off main fire tracks.
The woods contain a number of trails dropping down from fire roads and other tracks, it's one of those areas that has plenty on offer you just need to open your eyes and seek the trails out.
The trails vary from steep sketchy loose dropping into wooded rooty single track. Twisting through the trees, using the natural terrain and roots creating drops and technical sections.
The trails are access from a number of fire roads that cross the area, the climbing is relatively painless.

Ian I wonder if you know anyone in the Dorchester area who could take my keen mountain biker grandson to Puddletown forest on Tuesday or Wednesday 1st or 2nd July? He is over from Australia and so does not have his bike
Puddletown looks great and we are 4 miles west of Dorchester cheers
