Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire - Trail Centre

Apr 1, 2018 by Ian Carruthers | This post may contain affiliate links.

The Forest of Dean Mountain biking centre is situated in the west of Gloucestershire nestling the Welsh border. The trails offer a variety of options for riders of all skills from the family trails through to the downhill trails with the big jumps, there is something for everyone. The trails all start and Cannop cycle centre where there is a large carpark, toilets, showers, bike wash, bike shop / hire, cafe and uplift available.

The 'Verderer's Trail' is an all-weather loop incorporates fast, flowing flat out corners, big berms and rollovers. Although blue graded, it has some tricky challenges, the trail gently winds uphill before a swooping, flat top section and a brilliant descent on the Dragon's Tail that will have you hooting and hollering all the way back to the cycle centre.

The Freeminer Trail , designed, built and maintained by the Dean Trail Volunteers in partnership with the Forestry Commission, this challenging and varied single track can offer something to even the most demanding of riders, from tricky switchback climbs to rooty drops and hairpin bends. It is for experienced riders only and is suitable for off-road quality mountain bikes. The new extension includes some fast flowing new sections, table tops and some techincal climbs thrown in to keep you entertained.

    Downhill

There are numerous downhill trails from Lunch pad which was originally built for four 'wheeled bikes', through to the jump lines of 'GBU'. All the downhill trails start at the same location and can be reached either but the uplift or push up track. Many of the trails are in sections as they cross fire roads, so it is possible to session or connect various trails.
