This Nibley ride has a bit of nearly everything, cross country through open fields, steep rocky descents and even a jump line. The jumps aren't compulsory, they form part of a network of trails that have been built on Nibley knoll. The ride goes up Nibley knoll to the William Tyndall monument on the way on the other side of the hill are the trails. There a quite a few of them ranging from flowing bermed lines through to big jump features. There is enough to keep you entertained for good while. As the ride progresses it shares one of the descents from the Uley ride although this time instead of going down the hill into Dursley it's a tarmac climb up to the final descent of the ride. The final descent back into Waterley bottom is down a rock strewn steep sided track, that gives a final flourish to the ride.
Getting into Waterley Bottom can be a bit of a challenge as most of the roads in are steep with tight corners, there isn't a lot of parking in the village either. So unless you plan to use the New Inn as a base for the ride, you would be better starting in North Nibley where there is are more options for parking. The New Inn is a nice pub all be it a little on the remote side, which is why when we ride this as a Wednesday night ride we choose it.
If you are feeling fit and up for a bit more of a challenge you could combine with the Uley ride. This would turn the ride into more of a day out. It also gives the bonus of two sets of spectacular views of the west Cotswolds.
