    Anonymous Bar

    14 March 2018, 3:00am

Dragged out of bed and bundled into Lou's car with no idea where I'm being taken. All I know is that I need a passport and clothes for three days, I get clues as we progress towards the airport of our departure, M4, M25, M11 to arrive at Stanstead. So I know I'm flying somewhere, over breakfast at the airport Lou tells me that we are off to the city of Prague for three days.

So having landed in Prague and checked into Boutique Hotel Golden Key our hotel for the next three days it was time to explore the city. Whilst exploring the city and eating Trdelník, a kind of spit cake made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled, we came across a cocktail bar hidden away. Anonymous bar is a cocktail bar themed around the plot of Guy Fawkes and V for Vendetta.

    Anonymous bar

The whole experience at Anonymous is theatrical, the cocktails being themed. Even the menus get a look in, to start with you are presented with what looks like a normal looking menu.

    Round one

Round one shows you a range of cocktails theme around Guy Fawkes and V for Vendetta. I had a Hot Fawkes, a flaming cocktail served in a teacup, whilst Lou had a Valerie's Rose, a gin based cocktail.

    Anonymous Bar

For the theatrical element for the Hot Fawkes, the lights in the bar are turned off and the cocktail is poured whilst on fire by a mixologist in a Guy Fawkes mask.

    Round two

If you make it on to a second round of cocktails the menu is returned, although this time you are provided with a UV light. The UV light exposes hidden cocktails that only show up under UV light.

    Round three

Having had cocktails form the first menu and the hidden menu, the third menu is on a different level. A wooden box with little drawers in is brought to the table. Each drawer contains a perfume bottle with a unique scent, you choose your cocktail not on it's ingredients but on the scent you most like.

    Round four

For the fourth and possibly final round, we didn't make it any further if there are any more, you are presented with a 3.5" floppy disk. The disc has a QR code on it for you to scan, or an email address to ping if you can't use QR. You receive this menu by email, these cocktails are for sharing from one through to five. Again these are themed this time based on computer viruses and malware.

We shared a count dooko based on the duqu worm. This is served in intricate glassware that contains two versions of the cocktail which are poured at the table.

    Anonymous Bar

Having made it through four menus and spent several hours in the bar sampling many of the cocktails on offer, we left impressed. If you find yourself in Prague with an evening to spare you should definitely try to make time to visit Anonymous. We for sure will return if and when we visit Prague again.
