    Social Eating House

Feb 17, 2019 by Ian Carruthers | This post may contain affiliate links.

    Social Eating House

Social Eating House has become our go to restaurant in London. Jason Atherton's relaxed fine dining restaurant in Soho presents carefully created dishes. Spread over three levels, the main restaurant on the ground floor, The Blind Pig cocktail bar on the first and the chef's counter in the kitchen.

We first discovered Social Eating House in 2014, we'd gone down to London to meet some friends to talk wedding cakes. We often make a weekend of a trip to the city, whether it be for a wedding or a gig, we'll extend our stay. Our weekend will generally take the form of travelling down on a friday after work, before going for cocktails and diner. Saturday day is a culture day, museums or and exhibition, the evening / night is of late gig night. Sunday will be a leisurely brunch before home.

Although we tend not to eat elsewhere in London we don't tire of Social Eating House as the menu changes over time and we are not down that often. We will go for a later sitting and have on occasion been the last out of the restaurant. Before dinner we will if we can get in go upstairs to start the night at The Blind Pig with cocktails. These cocktails are not limited to your run of the mill cocktails, oh no. Blind Pig cocktails take a story and turn it into a liquid delight. At the time of writing the cocktails have taken on a literary theme. From the Hungry Caterpillar, to Pooh Bear, from Billbo Baggins to Harry Potter, the menu is a work of art in itself.

    Eating

When our table is ready we move downstairs for dinner, always all three courses. Whatever we choose from the menu Lou always insists that we have the triple cooked duck fat chips, not that we need them but they are good. I tend to start with a fish dish, whilst main is likely to be duck, venison or lamb. However to be honest for me choosing is always hard as everything is so good.

If you are in London and can get a table I highly recommend paying a visit.
