    Strawberry syrup

Aug 27, 2018 by Ian Carruthers | This post may contain affiliate links.

We have a garden full of strawberry plants and during the summer there is more fruit than we can eat. So that the we don’t end up with with a mountain of rotting fruit we have been taking the strawberries and creating all manor of strawberry goodness.

As part of my very active lifestyle I often have a protein shake following exercise, normally I just have milk and plain protein powder. I thought to mix things up a little that I would make use of the strawberries before they spoil, by creating a strawberry syrup to flavour my protein shakes.

    Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 300g Strawberries
    • 150g sugar
    • 150ml water

    Method

    • Hull the strawberries top tip use a reusable straw (no single use plastics here please).
    • Place strawberries sugar and water in to a saucepan and bring to the boil.
    • Simmer for 15 minutes until the fruit has turned to a mush.
    • Strain the syrup through a fine sieve and leave to cool.
