Borz racing – mate’s race

Borz racing

Not a race, round 2 Cranham

After being postponed from early February due to the snow, round two was rescheduled for March. This postponement was particularly fortuitous for me as it meant that I was able to get an entry and join in the fun. I’d set myself a goal of entering more races this year, but a lack of organisation, car woes and a lack of enthusiasm brought on but he winter weather meant that this became my first race of the year.

The format was made up of 4 stages, one rider on track at a time, timed with a good old fashioned stopwatch, no fancy timing chips here. Only having one rider at a time on track means the rest of the crew are free to support / heckle / offer advice, if “PEDDLE!” can be taken as advice?

Trails

So this round was set at the Cranham trails using some of the better known trails.
Stage 1: Sabotage (or bum run)
Stage 2: The wall
Stage 3: Collarbone
Stage 4: Janet

Borz race

Practice was a non stop loop of the stages, no sessioning and looking for cheeky lines, just a ride round for familiarisation on where to go. After a break for soup and cake it was race run time.

As we hang around and line up for stage 1 the weather decides to offer some encouragement, hail is not the weather you want to be hanging around in. So the runs commence with much frivolity, crashes, dubious lines and general good fun.

Results

Well it’s fair to say that I didn’t win or even podium, not that I was expecting to. I always go into racing with the mindset of first finish, then don’t come last. Going into a race not expecting to win is probably not the attitude, but I’m a realist and only ever enter for fun. I did at least manage to to achieve my objectives, i finished, didn’t come last and didn’t come away with any injuries. However probably more importantly I had an great day.
