Cwm Rhaeadr

Wales MTB

Welsh Mountain Bike trail

This trail may be short but it is perfect for a quick blast or multiple laps. Just outside the village of Cilycwm, Cwm Rhaeadr is 6.5km of trail, over half of which is single track descending. The climb is one 2.7km reasonably easy ascent on a fireroad.

Cwm Rhaeadr from the Welsh valley and waterfall, is a remote woodland 20 miles from the mountain bike base at Brechfa.

The trail is signposted from the carpark and climbs up the fireroad to single track at the top. Once at the top it offers a singletrack descent riding over a rocky ridge and stunning views over the valley and waterfall. The descent consists of rollers, berms and rocky descents that keep you occupied all the way back to the car park.

A Lap takes about 45 minutes to complete, there’s always plenty of time for one more go! Alternatively it is a good ride to do before heading home from a trip to Wales. Whilst it is only 6.5km and less than an hours riding, if you are in the area it is definitely worth the trip.

The small car park at Cwm Rhaeadr is free to use but has no facilities. Accommodation and refreshments can be found in the village of Cilycwm and in Llandovery. The trail head is located a mile north of Cilycwm village, near Llandovery. Follow the signs for Cilycwm from the A482 or A483. Continue north out of Cilycwm towards Llyn Brianne Reservoir until you reach the signs for Cwm Rhaeadr.

If you are making a trip of it there is plenty to explore, especially if you are coming from the M4. Brechfa is a short distance away, Cwmcarn is not far off the M4 then Tintern and Redbrook are not far from Bristol.
