Pensford Somerset Mountain Bike Ride

This cross country route south of Bath and Bristol takes in the spectacular Pensford Viaduct a Grade II listed disused railway bridge in the village of Pensford within the historic English county of Somerset.
The ride is a nice cross country affair meandering across north Somerset between villages. It’s a mix of rocky (rubble) descents and climbs, bridleways, fields with road sections lining it all together. The roads sections are mostly quiet back roads with two short main road bits that can be a bit sphincter tightening.
Whilst none of the descents are full on Enduro requiring lots of suspension travel they are enough to keep climbing for the next one. A nice relaxed leisurely ride with pub stops or an all out assault. If you’re not keen on Lansdown or Bathford and are after a ride near Bath or Bristol then this ride could be for you.
The ride holds up fairly well in typical British wet winters. Whilst although the route gets wet, the mud isn’t too bad, making this an option for a winter or wet weather ride. Having said that it doesn’t mean that it’s not a good summer ride with the views only adding to the ride.
