Grumpy by name fun by nature
The Grumpy Run is so called as the ride goes past the house of a grumpy man, or so the story goes. The route is on of the Wednesday night rides so the naming has been passed on. The route give smiles all round taking in several of the Cotswolds finest wooded single track. There are a few variations of this ride that can vary the length from the mini run at 15km to the mega run at 50km, although the full run is 30km.
The main starting point for the route(s) is Randwick although you could start at various points along the route. Standish woods, Painswick, Cranham or Birdlip if you go for the Meg Grumpy run. The route is mostly a tour of woods, so starting With Randwick and Standish woods, before moving onto Popes and Buckholt woods and then up to Painswick Beacon. In each wood there are options to ride different lines, so you can choose which lines to take and how many ascents / descents you want to.
Standish woods at the Randwick end of the route has a number of trail leading from a grassy knoll, mostly fairly natural flowing lines. More details of the trails at Popes woods can be found within the Cranham ride details.
