    Mini Castle Combe Route

May 30, 2020 by Ian Carruthers | This post may contain affiliate links.

    Castle Combe

    Short loop mountain bike ride

This is a shorter version of the Castle Combe ride sharing much of the route. Unlike it's longer counterpart this ride does actually start in Castle Combe. At only 15 km you can if you push complete this ride in around an hour, handy for when time is short or as we often do in inclement weather.

The difference between this ride and it's longer cousin, is that along with being significantly shorter, the route out of Castle Combe is reversed and it loops back on itself in a figure of eight. Mostly the ride is made up of cross country style riding with some short rocky descents, although nothing very technical.

This is one of those routes that we tend to ride when the weather is forecast to be bad as its is short and holds up reasonably well in the wet. It also happens to be close to where most people work, which generally means that everyone turns up late.

With the ride being short and sweet our evening visits often make it back to in time for chips at the White Heart, which are pretty good.
